Chasing Dreams in Tibet: From Lhasa Streets to Everest Peaks with Tibet Vista

Written by Susanne 0 COMMENTS

I started my journey from Chengdu train station. My name is Susan, and I travelled by myself. This trip was a dream come true for me. I always wanted to see Tibet, and finally, I made it happen.

The train journey was long and divided into two parts. The first overnight train took me from Chengdu to Xining. I stayed in Xining for about six hours before catching another overnight train to Lhasa.

First Steps into Tibet: Museums, Scenic Trains, and Warm Welcomes

During the stop in Xining, I visited the Museum of Tibetan Medicine. It was a very interesting place. Walking through the museum helped me stretch my legs and get my body moving after sitting for so long.

I also learned about Tibetan healing traditions. They even offered classes about Tibet medicine. It was worth the visit and gave me a small introduction to Tibetan culture before I reached Lhasa.

When I took the scenic Tibet train tour and arrived in Lhasa, the altitude was the first thing I noticed. The air was thin, but I felt fresh and excited. At the hotel, I received a warm welcome with white hada. Everyone was kind, and I felt safe and comfortable.

The next day, I met the other group members, the driver, and our Tibetan tour guide. We would travel together for the next few days. Meeting them made me happy because it meant I would share this journey with people who also loved travel.

From Lhasa to Everest: A Journey Through Tibet’s Stunning Landscapes and Culture

The first sights during the Lhasa tour were unforgettable. We visited Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery. The chanting of the monks and the debating in the courtyard were very impressive. At the Potala Palace, I was amazed by the scale and beauty of the building.

Standing in front of it felt unreal. Lhasa Old Town was also very special. I enjoyed walking through the Lhasa’s ancient streets and watching pilgrims circling the Jokhang Temple. The colors, the prayer flags, and the energy of the place left me with a deep impression.

After Lhasa, the journey continued to other regions of Tibet. Our first stop was Yamdrok Lake. The lake shone with a bright turquoise color, surrounded by mountains. That day we were invited to a local family lunch. I tasted typical Tibetan food, and it was delicious. The hospitality of the family made me feel very welcome. We spent the night in Shigatse.

The next day was one of the highlights of my whole trip. We drove to Gyawula Himalaya Viewpoint and Everest Base Camp. The bus ride itself was amazing. The views of the mountains and valleys were so beautiful that I often wanted the bus to stop so I could just stand and look.

At every stopover, I felt impressed by the vast landscapes. Reaching Everest Base Camp was an incredible experience. Seeing the world’s highest mountain with my own eyes was something I will never forget.

On the way back to Lhasa, we also visited Namtso Lake with the Holy Elephant Gate. Namtso Lake is known as the Heavenly Lake, and I understand why. The deep blue water with the snowy mountains in the background looked like a painting. It was peaceful and powerful at the same time.

Feeling Thankful and Inspired: Looking Back on My Dream Trip to Tibet

Looking back at the trip, I am very thankful. The tour organizer and guides did a perfect job. The routes were well chosen, the accommodations were good, and we were always looked after with care. Traveling in Tibet is not always easy, but everything was organized so well that I felt safe and relaxed the whole time.

This trip was more than just a holiday for me. It was a dream realized. Tibet touched my heart and gave me memories I will always carry. I know I will return one day, hopefully soon. Until then, I send love and light to all beings.
