Since I was young, I have always been interested in nature and mountains. Being the tallest mountain in the world, Mount Everest (and the Himalayas mountain range) has always fascinated me.
I never imagined I could see this magnificent mountain with my own eyes, but thanks to Tibet Vista, that dream became a reality.

Why travel to Mount Everest with Tibet Vista?
In May 2025, I decided to travel around China. Mount Everest and Tibet had always been on my must-go places list, so I started researching ways to get there.
Finding out that foreigners can’t go there on their own, I opted to find an agency to arrange the trip to Everest Base Camp in Tibet.
After doing a bit of research and comparing various agencies and their reviews, it was clear which one to choose: Tibet Vista. It looked very professional, and I can guarantee it indeed was. I thus decided to embark on the 8 Days Lhasa to Everest Base Camp Small Group Tour.
On arrival, a member of Tibet Vista received me at the train station and brought me to the hotel. Even though I had booked the ‘economy’ hotel class, I was surprised by the quality of the hotel. It certainly exceeded my expectations and was of very high quality. This not only happened in Lhasa but also in Shigatse; the hotel there was also impressive.
This fact highlighted one of the strengths of Tibet Vista: their high-quality standards, ensuring the comfort of all their customers.
My journey with Tibet Vista gave me a meaningful glimpse into the true essence of Tibet.
Get to Lhasa by Train: Highly Recommended!
As one of the main recommendations I found online, I decided to arrive in Lhasa by the Tibet train. I spent one night in Xining so my body could get used to the altitude before taking the train and heading to Lhasa (I highly recommend doing so to avoid altitude sickness).
It’s a rewarding experience to travel to Tibet by train along the legendary Qinghai-Tibet Railway.
First Few Days in Lhasa: Experience the Holy City on the Roof of the World
The first few days were spent in Lhasa. We explored the landmarks of this beautiful city, which impressed me a lot with its cultural differences compared to what I had seen in the rest of China.
Seeing the local people and their beliefs was definitely one of the most impressive aspects of the Lhasa city tour. The mountainous landscape combined with the colorful red, yellow, and white buildings makes Lhasa unique.
I enjoyed the stunning golden roof of Jokhang Temple, richly decorated and full of detail.
Journey to Everest Base Camp: Fulfilling My Lifetime Dream
After a one-night stop in Shigatse, it was time for what I had been waiting for: seeing Mount Everest with my own eyes.
Before reaching the magnificent mountain, on our way, we went through Gyatsola Pass (5,280m), which was the highest point of the trip. The thought that this is one of the highest places in which I will probably ever be made it even more special.

After some more driving, we arrived at the place: Everest Base Camp in Tibet. Even if it is not the actual base camp that climbers use (for obvious reasons), the views of Mount Everest were stunning. I could not believe it. There it was, in front of me.
We had plenty of time to appreciate its beauty and to take the perfect shot. We were very lucky, and the sky was very clear, allowing us to fully see the mountain.
Witness the summit of Everest with the ancient Rongbuk Monastery, the highest monastery in the world.
As the base camp is at 5,000 meters, our guide provided us with oxygen bottles, although most of us didn’t need them.
Sleeping at such an altitude is a challenge for the body, and I could feel it before going to bed, as I was not at my 100%.
However, I spent a really good night, so I decided to wake up early the next day to see the sunrise just next to Mount Everest. This was one of the most memorable moments of the trip.

Last Days Back in Lhasa: A Farewell to the Holy Land
After the highlight of the trip to Mount Everest, we returned to Shigatse for one night, and then we spent one more night in Lhasa.
On our way back, we stopped in multiple places to see some spectacular viewpoints. One that brings a really good memory is a lunch with a local family that we had. Seeing a real Tibetan house and eating local traditional food was really interesting for delving into their culture.
Tibet is not just about Mount Everest; many other spectacular natural beauties exist.

The People I Meet: What Makes the Journey Truly Unforgettable
Apart from the natural beauty of the trip itself, there was another component that made it memorable: the people. I feel very lucky that the Tibet small group tour I joined in was made up of very friendly people. Even though I arrived alone in Lhasa, I felt that the trip mates were like a group of friends. The connection with most of them was really good, and we experienced very positive moments together.
Moreover, our guide was excellent. His profound knowledge of the region (after all, he is local) combined with his sense of humour was super helpful for me to delve into the history of Tibet and all its secrets.
All of this human component made the long bus drives much more pleasant (Tibet is huge, so long travel times between places are inevitable, although the landscapes along the way are more than worth it!).
The Tibetan guide from Tibet Vista was friendly, experienced, and full of local knowledge.
An experience I will never forget
Before the trip started, I was quite nervous as I didn’t know how things would turn out. But now, after having completed it, I can say that traveling to Tibet with Tibet Vista was the best decision I could have made.
From the tour guide to the people I met and the impressive landscapes, everything was perfect, which will make this trip one I will forever remember.
