We’ve planned a trip starting from Chengdu in China, taking the train to Lhasa, followed by a 7-day tour from Lhasa to Mount Everest and then on to Kathmandu.
The ticket for the train from Chengdu to Lhasa was well arranged by Tibet Vista. It was much more easy that finding your own ticket because the train is totally full booked and you can only make reservations three days before you plan to leave.
We had a “soft sleeper” on the Tibet train. That was very good. Would advise everyone. The train over the 5200 meters high railroad was amazing and well organized. When we arrives we got picked up by Tibet Vista and we were brought to our hotel. A very luxury hotel with good rooms and good breakfast.
The adorable panda in Chengdu.
The dining car on the Tibet train is clean, well-organized, and welcoming.
From Sacred Lhasa to Majestic Everest: A Journey of Culture and Scenery
The Lhasa tour, the monastery and the palace the first two days was for us the highlight of the whole week. Lhasa is very interesting with all the Tibetan's worshiping the holy places. A very unique atmosphere. Our guide was very friendly and could tell us a lot about the people and religion. We really enjoyed it.
The last days were long because of the distance and hours of traveling in the bus. For me it could be split up in one more day so the amount of hours in the bus could be limited. Though the hours were long, the scenery was amazing and the places we visited along the way very interesting.
Of course the stay at Everest Base Camp was a one-in-a-lifetime experience. We could not sleep because of the high altitude, but it was a very comfortable place to stay. Our guide helped us where ever he could with extra oxygen or drinks. The visit to the Rongbuk monastery was also very interesting.
Clear view of Potala Palace under the blue sky.
Monks debate at Sera Monastery.
Tibetan building on Barkhor street.
Jokhang temple, the spiritual heart of Tibet.
Navigating Rough Roads and Unforgettable Moments: Our Journey from Tibet to Nepal
The road to Nepal the last day was very bumpy and under construction. So it took us hours to go from Tibet to Nepal. Nice to see how Nepal organizes the traffic in case of road blocks. Our chauffeur was very experienced and guided us through very well.
When I look back it was one of the most impressive experiences I had on my world trip from Europe to South America, Australia, Asia and Tibet. I would recommend Tibet Vista to everyone very much. It was well organized. The communication was very good and the guide was excellent.
