The Tour I Joined: A Truly Spiritual Journey Across Tibet to the Sacred Mount Kailash
The Tibet small group tour that I joined started from Lhasa, with a classic city exploration to the renowned landmarks, including the majestic Potala Palace, the holy Jokhang Temple, and the bustling Barkhor Street. The visit to Sera Monastery and Drepung Monastery brought me to the real life of Tibetan monks.
It was the first time I had seen the Potala Palace.
Then, following the scenic road, the trip headed to Shigatse, the second largest city in Tibet, with a short visit to the turquoise Yamdrok Lake en route.
And next came the major part of this journey. From the windswept vastness of Everest Base Camp to the sacred stillness of Lake Manasarovar and the soul-stirring 52-km Mount Kailash trek, every moment was unforgettable.
The weather was bad upon our arrival at Everest Base Camp, but we were still happy to make the journey there!
Finally, I saw the peak of Mount Everest!
One of the most profound parts of the journey was completing the 4-day Mount Kailash Kora. The high-altitude trek tested both body and spirit, but it was also incredibly rewarding. The camaraderie with fellow pilgrims from different countries, the quiet strength of the local people, and the natural majesty surrounding us made it an experience I will carry for life.
