From Scenic Tibet Trains to Everest: A Journey We’ll Never Forget with Tibet Vista

Written by Maria Ryan 0 COMMENTS

I’ve recently did the Tibet tour along with my boyfriend and it truly exceeded our expectations in so many ways. I would highly recommend this company if you are visiting Tibet. If we are lucky enough to return to this amazing place in the future, we will definitely book with Tibet Vista again.

Seamless Communication with Tibet Vista and a Scenic Train Adventure to Tibet

Communication prior to the tour and during the tour was fantastic. We corresponded with Kristin when booking our package, who was wonderful at answering our many questions! We were able to book a package, 8 Days Lhasa to Everest Base Camp Small Group Tour, that really suited our needs.

We also booked our Tibet train tickets through Tibet Vista. Again, communication was quick and informative - which we really appreciated as we were a bit nervous about the train. We needn’t have been worried at all - in fact the train ended up being a highlight for us!

We got the soft sleeper beds and the views were spectacular. I would strongly recommend arriving to Tibet by the train - it feels like an adventure in itself.

Safe, Comfortable Stays and Expert Guidance in Tibet

Once we arrived to Lhasa, we met our Tibetan guide and rest of the group (a total people of 12 including us) and got settled in! Luckily we didn’t have any issues with altitude sickness in Tibet, but if anyone did happen to become unwell, the hotel rooms and the bus have oxygen for guests to use for free.

Though we didn’t need it, this sense of of security and safety was really important - and we were happy we went with a company that priorities this. One of the things that really exceeded our expectations, was the accommodation.

The hotels we stayed in were fantastic in each of the destinations. Rooms were modern, warm, comfortable and everyday served a delicious breakfast buffet. One of the accommodations even had under-floor heating - which was heaven! We felt very well looked after and slept well each night. We were not expecting accommodation as nice as this - so it was a real bonus.

Most of all, our Tibetan guide Lhatse Tenzin really impressed us. Tenzin was an amazing guide to have - excellent English, very knowledgeable about Tibetan culture, history, religion as well being very attentive to our group’s needs (pacing the day well, planning plenty of breaks and rest). It was clear to us Tenzin has been a guide for many years - he is a pro!

A Photographer’s Dream: Scenic Drives, Tibetan Food, and Colourful Temples

Driving though the mountains was photography heaven for us. Though some of the days included long drives, it really didn’t feel too long as there were plenty of stops for bathroom breaks and photography. The landscapes and views were absolutely stunning.

Another thing that really surprised us, was the quality of the food we ate (both during the Lhasa tour and the surroundings). Having done some trekking in Nepal, we understand the challenge of getting fresh food in remote areas. However this was the case in Tibet for us.

One of our favourite meals was the farm lunch from a local family on the way to Shigaste. Overall we really enjoyed the food in Tibet.

We learned a lot while on the Tibet tour. We really enjoyed visiting the monasteries and learning about Tibetan culture. The beautiful and colourful temples and monasteries were, again, photography heaven for us.

My Reflection: Deep Cultural Insights and a Journey Beyond Expectations

As the experience of visiting a Tibetan Buddhist monastery and the information was all completely new to us, Tienzin was able to answer any of our questions. At the end, I felt like I gained a good insight to Tibet’s rich history and heritage.

Overall, we were really happy we went with Tibet Vista as a tour agency. From the quick, helpful communication, to attentive guide, comfortable accommodation, delicious food and range of sightseeing destinations and activities - really there’s nothing else you could ask for!

Having a clear view of Mount Everest was the cherry on top! We are very grateful for the opportunity to visit this beautiful part of the world. Thank you, Tibet Vista!
