The Chinese Embassy in Nepal is responsible for issuing Chinese Group Visas for overseas tourists entering Tibet from Nepal.
Before visiting the embassy for an interview, you first need to book your Tibet trip through a local travel agency in Tibet. The agency will apply for the Tibet Travel Permit from the Tibet Tourism Bureau on your behalf.
Once your booking is confirmed and other required documents are ready, you can go to the embassy to apply for your Chinese Group Visa.

How to Get a China Group Visa from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal
To apply for the China Group Visa, you need to visit the Chinese Embassy in Nepal and take an visa interview.
However, since an individual’s application is not accepted, you shall depend on a local Tibet travel agency to enjoy the service.
First, make sure you have already book a Tibet tour with a local travel agency. The agency will apply for the Tibet Travel Permit on your behalf and provide necessary documents for your interview.
Then, you need to arrive in Kathmandu at least 5 days in advance. Since the China Group Visa process takes 4 to 5 working days, it’s important to get there early and allow enough time for your visa to be processed and issued.
Please remember to bring your original passport and headshot photo (1) for the visa application. The application payment can be made in cash or by QR code.

1. According to the latest policy, if you already have a Chinese Visa, you don’t need to apply for the Group Visa in Nepal.
