Overview

What Makes this Tibet Trip Different?

Garong

Even without trekking around Mount Kailash, this is an epic overland motorcycle adventure that takes you across the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas - from Mt. Everest to Mount Kailash, from bustling cities to the wilds of western Tibet - covering all essentials along the way.

Spending 13 days, you'll journey from Lhasa to western Tibet and then on to Kathmandu - an adventure of a lifetime across the Tibetan Plateau and the Himalayas.

Starting from Lhasa, you'll spend two days acclimatizing to the high altitude, visiting landmarks such as the Potala Palace and the Jokhang Temple, and immersing yourself in Tibet's unique cultural heritage.

Then, you’ll start your motorcycle journey. Along well-paved roads, you'll pass the turquoise Yamdrok Lake and the ancient Karola Glacier before arriving in Shigatse, Tibet's second-largest city. It is also the gateway to Mount Everest.

After one night’s stay in Shigatse, you'll continue onward, traversing the winding mountain roads. At Gawula Pass, you’ll be amazed by five towering snow-capped peaks, each rising over 8,000 meters, lined up before your eyes. Arriving at Everest Base Camp, the top of the world just lies within reach.

Then, you’ll ride north to the Ngari region, a haven for wildlife and home to sacred lakes and mountains. You'll ride through the Saga Valley between the Himalayas and the Gangdise Mountains, experiencing the wilderness and the possibility of encountering wild animals like Tibetan wild donkeys and other spirits of the plateau.

After arriving in Darchen, you'll rest at the foot of the sacred Mount Kailash and visit Lake Manasarovar, immersing yourself in the pure and sacred nature.

Afterwards, you'll continue deep into the heart of Ngari to explore the mysterious ruins of the Guge Kingdom and the enchanting Zada Earth Forest, which preserve Tibet's most pristine and timeless beauty.

Finally, you'll ride south to the Gyirong Port, cross the border, and arrive in Kathmandu, bringing this epic journey to a perfect conclusion.
