What Travel Documents Do I Need for Tibet Motorbike Tour?
Firstly, you need to obtain a Chinese Visa, whether you enter Tibet from the mainland of China or Nepal. If you plan to travel from Nepal to Tibet, you can either obtain a Chinese Visa through the Chinese Embassy in your country or a Group Visa through the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu.
Then, you need to apply for the Tibet Travel Permit. Since the individual application is not accepted, you can only get it from the travel agency that arranges the motorcycle tour for you. Only with the Tibet Travel Permit can you enter the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.
Besides, to legally drive your own motorbike in Tibet, you have to get >Chinese License Plates and a Chinese Driving License. To get these licenses, it may take one or two days.

How Far in Advance Should I Book My Motorbike Tour to Tibet?
Generally, it is suggested to book your Tibet tour at least 21 days in advance. If you plan to visit Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar, you should leave more time since additional local travel documents are required.
After the permit is issued, we will send it to your address in the mainland of China to ensure you receive it in time for entering Tibet. If you are entering Tibet from Nepal, your Tibetan guide will bring the Tibet Permit to the border and meet you after you cross the border. -
When is the Best Season to Enjoy a Motorbike Tour in Tibet?
Tibet is a motorbike-friendly destination all year round, except for the monsoon season from mid-June to early September.
If you are planning to admire the majestic Mount Everest, the best time to enjoy the motor ride as well as the clearest views of the mountains is from mid-April to early June and from September to early November. You can enjoy the crisp air and deep blue sky during your journey to Everest Base Camp in Tibet.
Winter is also possible for a motorbike tour in most areas of Tibet. However, due to high altitude and cold temperature in winter, it is not possible to visit Mount Kailash during the winter season.

Is it safe to Drive in Tibet?
In general, it is quite safe to drive and ride a motorbike in Tibet.
Thanks to the improvement of road conditions in Tibet, the main roads from Lhasa to almost all destinations are mostly asphalt, making your ride safer and more enjoyable.
However, since you are riding on the Tibetan Plateau, it is important to avoid acute altitude sickness. A great piece of advice is to follow a gradual ascent to avoid acute altitude sickness. With an average altitude of 4000m, the Tibetan Plateau is a great playground to test your lungs and heart. It’s vital to follow your Tibetan guides’ travel tips and have a good acclimatization before riding your bike for the thrilling ride.
As a guided tour, we also provide staff on another support truck to offer timely help, just in case your bike has a flat tire or other mechanical problems. To ensure a safe and enjoyable motorcycle tour in Tibet, we also offer oxygen bags and other first-aid kits with the group. If you request, we can also arrange a chef to accompany you and make tasty food for you along the way.

Can I Rent Motorcycle in Tibet? What Type is Available?
As to the motorbikes, we offer BMW motorcycles for rental in Lhasa. Motorcycle Series are G310, F800, R1200, and Adventure. And a back-up truck will provide logistic supply, oxygen supply, and a Tibetan guide will follow you.
As a common practice, we will have a test ride to the Ganden monastery to see if you can fully acclimatize to the Tibetan plateau while riding the bike.
